Platja d’Aro Carnival
One of the Costa Brava’s most famous carnivals
Platja d'Aro Carnival
14 km from the hotel
The origins of Platja d'Aro carnival are unknown, as no documents have been found with a reference to it, although it is known to be very old. The figure of the "Carnastoltes" and the parades of floats fill the streets with colour and joy, with over 4,000 people and 70 different groups competing to be the best. Other activities also take place on the same dates alongside the carnival, such as street parties serving rice dishes, hot chocolate, butifarra sausages or sardines (the latter known as the “entierro de la sardina” or “burial of the sardine”).
